The Top Fitness Trends For 2019

Jason Greve 2019 fitness fitness and health fitness trends

The world of fitness is forever evolving. Here are the top trends that will take 2019 by storm.

  1. Group exercises

If you’re a go-it-alone type, you might have to reconsider your exercise routine in the upcoming year. Exercising in a group makes trying out new things less intimidating and arguably a lot more fun. So grab your nearest and dearest, and sign up for a new class sooner rather than later.

     2. Fitness trackers

We know what you’re thinking, and yes, fitness trackers have been a big deal for the past few years. However, as technology changes and evolves, fitness trackers are set to become more intuitive and even more sleek in design.

A new tracker has just been announced in the form of a ring, allowing you to monitor your fitness with even less intrusion than your typical fitness tracker arm band. There’s also guaranteed to be innovations abound for the Fitbit and Apple Watch over the coming year.

      3. Crawling

Stick with us on this one. The trend of ‘crawling’ hit headlines late last year, and it’s being projected to really take off in 2018. While it might seem like an unusual form of exercise, crawling has some great health benefits. It can improve your body’s core strength, and is even good for easing back pain in a non-intensive manner.

      4. Yoga

Yoga has been around for centuries, and it’s really picked up in popularity over the last few years. This trend will only continue in 2018 due to Yoga’s undeniable health benefits. Not only is it good for your body, but it’s an unbeatable technique for your mind, too. Practising yoga can change your brain’s GABA levels, and can help combat anxiety and depression.

      5. Livestream classes

This is where two major trends converge – unique fitness trends and livestreaming. Livestreaming on platforms such as Facebook Live and Periscope has reached stratospheric levels of popularity in recent months, and it looks set to expand. Livestreaming fitness classes allows people from all over the world to come together and get moving.

      6. Enhancing knowledge

It’s one thing to turn up to the gym or your favourite class a few times a week, it’s another thing to really know what you’re doing with your body when you exercise. 2019 will be all about learning more – understanding your physiology and getting to know the exercises that will benefit you and your particular needs.

      7. Dance classes

It’s common knowledge that people like doing exercise that doesn’t necessarily feel like exercise, and dance is one of the top ways to get moving without it feeling like a drag. Dance cardio videos and class were a big hit in the States in the latter part of 2016, and it won’t be long until your local gym is hosting them in there UK.
